4. Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications
Important Qualification Rule — B.Ed & D.El.Ed Decoded
CRITICAL ELIGIBILITY RULE — B.ED PRIMARY BAN:
- Supreme Court Ruling: As per the landmark Supreme Court judgment in Devesh Sharma v. Union of India (11 August 2023), B.Ed degree holders are NOT ELIGIBLE for Primary Teacher (Classes 1–5) posts. A 6-month bridge course does not grant fresh eligibility.
- Primary Requirement: Primary Teachers must hold 10+2 with 50% + 2-year D.El.Ed (or 4-year B.El.Ed) + CTET/BTET Paper-I.
- B.Ed Entry Point: Candidates holding a B.Ed degree can apply starting from Middle School (Classes 6–8) onwards.

STET 2026 Appearing Candidates Relaxation
STET 2026 APPEARING CANDIDATES SELF-DECLARATION PROVISION:
Candidates who possess the required academic/PG degree and B.Ed training but are appearing in Bihar STET 2026 are permitted to apply for Secondary/Senior Secondary posts. Such candidates must upload a prescribed Self-Declaration Form along with their STET 2026 application copy. They must clear STET 2026 prior to document verification.
5. Age Limit & Category-wise Age Relaxation
Cut-off Reference Date: The minimum age is calculated as on 01.08.2026, while the maximum age limit is calculated as on 01.08.2024 (as per Administrative Reforms Dept order dated 23.01.2006). The minimum age is 18 years for Primary/Middle levels and 21 years for Secondary/Senior Secondary levels.

IMPORTANT REVISED FEE STRUCTURE (ADVT. 15/2026):
- Examination Fee: Reduced to Rs 100 per category/class level for all applicants. Candidates applying for multiple school levels (e.g. Class 1-5 and Class 6-8) must pay ₹100 separately for each applicable level.
- Biometric Fee: An additional fee of Rs 200 is charged ONLY to candidates who DO NOT provide a valid Aadhaar Number during online registration. Candidates providing Aadhaar details are EXEMPTED from the ₹200 biometric fee.
- Payment Gateway: Online payment via SBI Gateway. Bank processing charges applicable.

7. Selection Process & Examination Pattern
Selection Process: Direct recruitment based strictly on a single objective written examination (MCQ) followed by Document Verification (DV). There is NO INTERVIEW round. Candidates are selected based on written exam merit.

OFFICIAL EXAM PATTERN & MARKING SCHEME SUMMARY:
- Total Questions & Duration: 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), 150 Marks, Time Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (150 Minutes).
- 5-Option Format & Option (E): Each question has 5 options (A, B, C, D, E). If a candidate does not wish to attempt a question, they MUST select Option (E).
- 1/3rd Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark (0.33) is deducted for each incorrect answer OR for leaving a question completely blank without marking Option (E).
- Language Qualifying Rule: Part-I Language (30 marks) is qualifying only. Candidates must score a minimum of 30% (9 marks) to qualify. Marks in Part-I are NOT added to the final merit list.
